Pops

Nolan’s dad, Billy Bishop Sr., went to be with the Lord on May 15.  He was blessed with a full life of eighty-four years.   After many years of different sicknesses, he is healed and complete in the presence of our Savior.

Mr. Billy had many loves.  First of all he loved Jesus.  He loved the Lord so much and followed Him with everything.  He loved his wife.  In July, Mr. Billy and Ms. Ella Nora would have been married sixty-five years.  They met when Ella Nora’s family moved from north Mississippi because her brother had tuberculosis and Simpson county had one of the only TB hospitals.  Isn’t that amazing how God has a plan.  He loved her with all his heart.  He wanted to take care of her as long as he could.  He loved his children and grandchildren.  The boys called him “Pops”.  Pops wanted everyone to know that God is most important and then family.   He also loved to fish, ALOT.  In his younger years, he did a lot of hunting.  He could tell many stories about late night coon hunts.

Nolan was blessed to grow up in a loving Christian home.  When God healed Nolan’s brother of an eye disease at age twelve, his family began to travel and sing.  They would sing and share the testimony of healing. We are blessed to do the same today.  It may not look or sound the same, but we are still sharing Jesus in song.  Nolan sometimes shares the testimony of how it all started.  God still saves and heals and we want the world to know.   Pops left a beautiful legacy to us and we are carrying it on.  All three sons are ministers of some kind.  My sister- in- law is a nurse and shares Jesus daily by caring for others.  I know he was proud of all his children.  He would have been especially proud to know all three sons preached at the service to celebrate his life.  They turned the focus on Jesus and that is exactly what he would have wanted.

So blessed

We have been amazed at the outpouring of love for our family during this time.  All the messages, cards, food, phone calls and visits have meant so much to us.  We felt every prayer that was said for our family.  Thank you so much for your continued love to us.

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” John 14:1-4

And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”  Revelation 14:13

For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.  Romans 14:8

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.  Psalm 116:15
