Summer Update
Since I pretty much stink at keeping this blog updated, I decided to update on our summer. I decided to do this because it is over. The schools start Friday and we are starting Monday, but we had a great summer.
VBS is always a great way to start summer. Alexis taught preschool music and I taught the Bible study to all elementary children, first grade through sixth. We had a full rotation schedule because of limited space and we found we really liked it. I loved teaching the Bible story to all the groups everyday.
Then there was Life Camp/Mission Arlington that I previously blogged about.

In Arlington, ready to go
The very day after Life Camp, Mercy went to Kids Camp with the children from church. She had a blast. This was the first time that she was able to go to camp with our church. We were always somewhere leading worship. She has been to many camps with us, but this was an opportunity for her to go on her own and have her own experiences.

Leaving for Camp
Mercy had a few days to rest from the excitement of camp before we headed to Biloxi to lead worship at Coalville United Methodist Church. We love many people from this church. We have gotten to know many of them through Fall Retreat at Palmer Creek. We had a great time with them on Saturday night and Sunday morning. I don’t have any pictures. We went to the beach after worship Saturday night. We took a few pictures but the wind and all…..you know.
The following Sunday we started revival. We had the wonderful opportunity to lead worship again at Whitesand Baptist Church in Prentiss, Ms. We love this church so much and it was a double blessing because Dr. Bob Pitman was the preacher again. We have grown to love this man and it is always an honor to work with him.
Alexis and Mercy had their dance recital for the year. Dance is just another way they can worship the Lord and I am thankful that they have someone to teach them.

My girls ready to dance
Alexis then made her way to Super Summer at Mississippi College. She has been looking forward to this since last year. She was looking forward to seeing her friends that she made last summer and seeing what God wanted to teach her. We were able to go up and visit one night. We led worship there for Red School for four years so it was great to see old friends and worship with the students. There is nothing like worship at Super Summer. Alexis’ small group leader was actually one of the students that we had in our school years ago. It is amazing to see students go through this camp and then come back to serve themselves.

Ready for Brown School

Ready for a great week at Super Summer
The week after Super Summer the girls were off on an adventure with my parents. This has become a yearly tradition and at the girls request they returned to Pigeon Forge, Tn. They love this time with their grandparents. They are making memories that will last forever. While in Tennessee they went to Dollywood, saw a show and just enjoyed each other and God’s beautiful creation.

Beautiful girls and mountains
So while the girls were on vacation, we decided to take a little road trip of our own. We decided to go to Fairhope, Alabama. It is a beautiful little town on Mobile Bay. We loved our time away and got to see beauty like this.

We had a wonderful summer. The books were ordered and have been delivered. They have been placed in their boxes ready for Monday morning. Notebooks and pencils will be purchased in the next few days. Ready or Not……the school year is here. I am praying it will be a great year. We had many struggles last year, but that was last year. This is a new year, another chance. We are praying for all the teachers and students in schools everywhere. We pray for safety and that you all would have a great year. We also pray for our homeschool friends. We are so thankful for all of you.
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14
